Generate a bill of quantities from an IFC model
A bill of quantities from the BIM model gives you quantities straight from the source – no manual take-off – as input for estimating, purchasing and design. Yesper interprets the IFC file, classifies the geometry and produces, for example, floor areas (per the Swedish standard SS 21054), classified slabs, a door and window schedule, wall and installation quantities and the number of apartments – depending on what the model contains and what you ask for. The result is collected in a tabbed Excel with a built-in self-check that catches things like double-counted slabs. Most valuable in the design and estimating stage.
How to do it in Yesper
- Add the IFC file (IFC2X3 or IFC4) – drag it into the chat, pick it from Secure folders or fetch it via SharePoint.
- Ask Yesper to generate a bill of quantities and state how you want it grouped (for example per floor or per building part).
- Yesper classifies the geometry and compiles the quantities, with a self-check that flags uncertain items.
- Review the result in Yesper and download the Excel file if needed.
Settings & tips
- To speed up and steer the run, point out the IFC quantity take-off skill; otherwise Auto picks it from your question.
- Ask for specific grouping (per floor/building part) or specific output (only doors/windows, only areas) depending on what you need.
Example prompts
Generate a bill of quantities from our IFC model.
Generate a bill of quantities from the IFC model in Secure folders (IFC4). Report gross/usable floor areas per storey according to SS 21054, a door and window schedule grouped by type, wall lengths per storey and the number of apartments. Put installations on a separate tab and mark items flagged by the self-check. Export to Excel.
FAQ
Which IFC versions are supported?
IFC2X3 and IFC4.
Can I control the grouping?
Yes, ask for it per floor, per building part or per type.
What does the self-check do?
It detects and corrects things like double-counted slabs and misclassified objects before the result is delivered.
