Anyone who looks after track knows this. Each defect gets a due date and most get closed on time. Then the geometry car finds it again, and it gets closed again. Spotting the repeat means reading years of rows at once, and nobody does.
One case on our Try page: 10,857 defects in one export. Yesper put them all on a track chart, and one stretch stood out: track surface fixed after every geometry run while the culvert beside it stayed plugged, its own defect still open. And 55 of 98 overdue turnout defects sat at the same station.
The cause gets fixed before the next spot surfacing is scheduled. The overdue list gets a place and a roadmaster to ask for a recovery plan. Same for the jobs beside it on the Try page: a work plan for a culvert, on-track safety planning from a defect.
