Every model is right on its own

Anyone coordinating a bridge model knows this. The engineer's concrete, the fabricator's steel, the existing bridge from an inspection report. Each file is right on its own. Together, not quite. Finding the gaps means every bolt hole and every site photo before the coordination meeting.

One case on our Try page: a new steel girder bridge. Yesper merged the concrete, girder and bolt models into one IFC file. The bolt model was 40 bolts short at one splice, and the site photos showed a sidewalk the inspection report doesn't list, 1.6 ft from the new curb at midspan.

The fabricator completes the bolt model before erection planning, and the sidewalk is settled before the staging is set. Both turn up in the coordination model instead of on site. Same for the rest of the Try page: quantities from an IFC model, a review protocol for a design package.
