Why the sub's quote is over your number

Every estimator knows the moment. The sub's quote lands well over your number, and the total won't say why. The answer is in the lines, and theirs never line up with yours, so it's a day's work in bid week.

One case on our Try page: a structures quote, $356,535 over the priced bid schedule. Yesper tied every quote line to the schedule and split the difference by cause. Nearly a third is reinforcing steel priced on shipping weight where the RFQ says plan quantity. The barrier curb is priced twice, $59,470.

You know what to carry in the bid and what to push back on before the subcontract is signed. What's counted twice and what's left out show up now, not in the first change order. Same for the rest of the Try page: tenders leveled against the scope split, unit prices into a bid schedule.
