What the owner struck from the standard form

Anyone pricing a design-build knows this. The owner's supplementary conditions rewrite the standard form, the addendum rewrites the conditions, and the line that hurts is often one somebody struck. It's read the week the questions close.

One case on our Try page: a design-build proposal for a school. Yesper ranked every change to the DBIA forms and wrote the actions and pre-proposal questions. The heaviest was a deletion: Addendum No. 1 removes the cap on liquidated damages, and after 131 days late the estimate's fee is gone. Next, a five-year correction period on products the owner selected.

The exposure is priced before the proposal goes in, and the question gets asked while the portal is open instead of across the table after award. Same for the rest of the Try page: change order potential in a bid package, front-end conditions code by code, a liquidated damages review.
