The paragraph that didn't change

Anyone who prices off a template knows it. The project's outline spec reads like your own, so you skim for what changed. Most differences are wording. A few change the price. The one that costs you didn't change at all: a condition in another section made it binding.

One case on our Try page: a school's outline spec against the template. Yesper found seven differences that change the price. One of them no redline shows: the paragraph is identical in both. Central plant hot water replaced the heat pumps, its condition fired, and the MDF and IDF rooms needed ductless splits: $117,500.

The questions to the Owner go out before the proposal, and you price the spec you were given, not the template. Same for its neighbours on the Try page: a bid set against the IFC set, front-end documents code by code, cost by building element.
