The field day isn't over when the rig leaves

Anyone who has been out sampling knows it. The field app, the photos, the survey and the chain of custody never quite agree, and squaring them against the plan is desk work for the morning after, when the crew is on the next site.

One case on our Try page: a day of borings and sediment stations. Yesper wrote the day into the firm's log templates and flagged what didn't hold. One boring sat 37 ft off its planned location, outside the pit it was meant to bound, no reason given. The highest PID sample of the day never made the chain of custody.

The questions get asked while the crew still remembers the hole and the lab still has the sample. Same for the rest of the Try page: lab results out of scanned reports, borings into a 3D model, a completion report for a remediation.
