Track measurement forms, bandel 461 at Ulvberga, km 87+430

Two self-inspection forms for the pipe jacking under the railway for road 635: one for track position (spårläge) and one for twist (skevning). Every value is classified against the limits in the monitoring programme as it is entered. Rounds 1–4 are filled in; round 4 has one height at action level and one twist above UH1.

Summary

Twist · EK-SP-02

Twist S06–S07 is above UH1, although no cross level change reaches the alert level

In round 4 the cross level changed by at most +3.0 mm from the zero measurement, below the 4 mm alert level. The twist over 6 m between S06 and S07 is still 11.4 mm, above the UH1 limit of 11 mm for speed class H2, because it was already 10.6 mm (PLAN) at the zero measurement. Kontrollprogram, Tabell 4, p. 7.

Action: arrange track adjustment before jacking continues.

To confirm: TDOK 2021:0415 does not say whether its twist values apply to a 6 m or a 3 m base. Trafikverket’s track engineering function should confirm the base before the UH1 result is relied on.

Height · EK-SP-01

Right rail at S07 has settled 8.4 mm, past the action level

Directly above the pipe at km 87+430 the right rail has dropped in every round: −1.2, −3.1, −6.0 and −8.4 mm. The action level is 8 mm (Tabell 3, p. 6). The left rail at S07 and the right rail at S06 and S08 are at alert level.

Action: stop jacking and notify the client before work resumes.

To confirm: the programme’s own height limits and its frequency of four rounds in nine days of jacking directly under the track are not verified against a published source. Trafikverket’s track engineering function should confirm both.

Zero measurement

The zero reference at S11 fails the 1 mm repeatability check

The two zero rounds on 19 and 20 October differ by 1.6 mm in right rail height at S11, km 87+454. The monitoring programme allows 1.0 mm (section 6, p. 5). The mean is used as reference, so S11 height readings carry an extra ±0.8 mm uncertainty.

Action: re-measure the zero reference at S11.

Method

  1. Measurement sections, frequency and limits were taken from the monitoring programme: Tabell 3 for track position, Tabell 4 for twist, section 6 for the zero measurement and section 8 for actions.
  2. Two self-inspection (egenkontroll) forms were built: EK-SP-01 for rail heights, lateral position and gauge, and EK-SP-02 for cross level and twist. The limits are built into each field.
  3. The zero reference is the mean of the two zero rounds. Each point was checked against the repeatability requirement.
  4. Track position values are classified as deviation from the zero reference. Twist is classified as an absolute value, the change in cross level between two sections 6 m apart, against the limits for the speed class.
  5. Rounds 1–4 were entered from the CSV export. The highest class on each form gives the action from section 8.

Assumptions and limits

  • Left and right are seen in the direction of increasing chainage (km-tal). Negative height is settlement, positive cross level means the left rail is higher, positive lateral movement is towards the jacking pit.
  • The sections are 6 m apart, so the twist base equals the section spacing.
  • Limits are as written in the monitoring programme rev B and are project-specific. The programme follows the approach of BVS 585.17 (TDOK 2015:0161), Trafikverket’s standard for temporary sheet piling next to track, in which the client sets the permitted deviations from the zero reference. Alert, Action and Stop are the programme’s own levels: Stop corresponds to the standard’s larmgräns (maximum permitted values), and the alert level is at most 50 % of the stop level. The limits for height, lateral position, gauge and cross level change could not be verified against a published source and should be confirmed by Trafikverket’s track engineering function.
  • The twist limits per speed class are the same as the twist guidance in TDOK 2021:0415 Säkerhetsbesiktning – Banunderbyggnad (version 3.0), which does not state a base length. The 6 m base follows BVS 585.17 section 7.3.5. Whether those values are meant for a 6 m or a 3 m base is not stated in the source. Check all limits against TRVINFRA-00013 Banöverbyggnad – Spårläge (Trafikverket’s track geometry requirements) before use; its current version was not verified.
  • The measurement frequency is the programme’s. Four rounds during nine days of jacking may be too sparse directly under track, where BVS 585.17 calls for measurement every day for critical work. The frequency should be confirmed with Trafikverket’s track engineering function.
  • Readings are given to 0.1 mm. The instrument uncertainty is about ±0.5 mm in height and ±1 mm laterally.
  • Values typed into the forms are not saved. Reset restores the recorded readings.
