Lighting sheets for Basalt Ridge Middle School, Bid Set vs. Addendum 2

All 32 lighting and emergency lighting sheets were compared sheet by sheet between the Bid Set and the Addendum 2 reissue, and every change area was marked up as a PDF comment. 151 of 165 changes have no revision cloud. They include a luminaire type substitution on 21 plans, and the ISSUED FOR BID stamp is gone from every sheet.

Summary

Issue status · all sheets

ISSUED FOR BID stamp missing on all 32 sheets

The Bid Set title blocks read ISSUED FOR BID in the issue status box. In the Addendum 2 sheets the box is blank on every sheet, because the title block was replaced (revision 1: “New title block”). Addendum No. 2, p. 1, says these sheets supersede the Bid Set sheets.

Action: have the engineer reissue the sheets with the issue status filled in before the addendum goes out to bidders.

Luminaire type · 21 sheets

Type A2 replaced by A5 on 21 of 24 lighting plans

586 luminaires in 112 rooms are now tagged A5, with no revision cloud and no entry in the revision block. The luminaire schedule on EL601 lists A5 as non-dimming, while the riser diagram on EL602 and Section 26 51 19 call for 0-10V dimming in classrooms.

Action: ask the electrical engineer whether the substitution is intended. If it is, EL602 and the specification need to change too.

Occupancy sensors · 3 sheets

Occupancy sensors removed in 6 resource rooms, unclouded

On EL109, EL110 and EL114 the ceiling occupancy sensor is gone in two resource rooms per sheet. Section 26 09 23 requires occupancy sensors in every resource room. The 14 clouded changes, emergency units at the stairs and two site poles moved out of the SR 298 right-of-way, match the revision blocks.

Action: include the sensors in the same question to the electrical engineer.

Method

  1. Sheets are paired by sheet number from the sheet index. All 32 sheets appear in both sets; no sheets were added or deleted.
  2. Each pair is compared as vector linework and text, not as an image, so changed type tags and deleted symbols are caught as well.
  3. Differences that sit close together are merged into one change area. The new revision entry and revision number in the title block count as expected changes.
  4. Each change area is checked against the revision clouds in the Addendum 2 sheet and against the sheet’s revision entry.
  5. Changed type tags are looked up in the luminaire schedule on EL601 and compared with the Division 26 specifications and the riser diagram.
  6. All 165 change areas are placed as rectangle comments in the Addendum 2 set, colored by assessment: red for a missing stamp, amber for an unclouded change and green for a clouded, listed change.

Assumptions and limitations

  • The comparison shows what changed, not why. Only the electrical engineer can say whether the switch to A5 is an intended design decision.
  • A change area counts as clouded when a revision cloud on the Addendum 2 sheet fully encloses it.
  • Shifts of text or linework smaller than 1/32 in. on a 30x42 sheet are not reported.
  • Luminaire counts per room are taken from the lighting plans. Reflected ceiling plans and architectural sheets are not included.
  • The sheet index was checked for sheet numbers and revisions only, not against sheet content.
