As-built OCS foundations vs. pole schedule, Badger Subdivision MP 18.3 to 20.6

Two as-built survey files with 62 rows in total were checked against pole schedule Rev C at a tolerance of 3/4 in. horizontal and 1/2 in. vertical. Twelve rows in File B carry the coordinates of the next pole number, pole P-148 was never surveyed, and three foundations are out of tolerance.

Summary

File B · lines 18–29

12 rows belong to the next pole number

The shots described as P-148 through P-159 are 160 to 205 ft from their own poles but 0.04 to 0.21 in. from the next pole on the schedule. Elevations match the next pole too, within 0.12 in. Renumber the rows by one before accepting the file.

Pole P-148

One foundation was never surveyed

File B lists all 32 pole numbers, so it looks complete. After renumbering, lines 29 and 30 are the same foundation, P-160, shot twice 0.12 in. apart. P-148 at the OR 235 grade crossing, Sta. 1058+50, has no position and needs a field shot.

Tolerance 3/4 in. horiz., 1/2 in. vert.

3 of 61 surveyed foundations are out of tolerance

P-117 is 1.25 in. closer to track centerline than scheduled, P-139 is off 0.94 in. along the track, and P-124 is 0.62 in. low. The other 58 are within 0.27 in. horizontally and 0.19 in. vertically. Tolerances are from the Technical Specifications, Vol. 3, page 14.

Check by pole

Compare each row either with the pole of the same number in the file or with the nearest pole on the schedule. Click a pole in the plan or a row in the log to see the deviation in inches and the source lines.

The plan is straightened along the track and shows the OCS poles on the left side looking up-station. Bars below show horizontal deviation upward and vertical deviation downward. A broken bar is off the scale.

Pole

Surveyed point relative to the scheduled position. Along-track is positive up-station and cross-track is positive away from the track. The dashed circle and dashed lines show the tolerance.

Method

  1. The rows in File A and File B were read as point number, northing, easting, elevation and description. Both files and the schedule are on NAD83(2011) State Plane Oregon North (3601) in international feet, with NAVD 88 elevations, as stated in the specifications.
  2. Each row was compared with the pole of the same number on the schedule. The deviation was split into along-track and cross-track components using the track bearing at the pole from the alignment.
  3. Rows more than 1.5 ft from their own pole were checked against the whole schedule. A row within 1.5 ft of another pole was flagged as a wrong pole number.
  4. In Nearest pole mode each row was assigned to the pole it is closest to. Poles with no row are reported as not surveyed and poles with two rows as duplicate shots.
  5. Deviations were checked against the horizontal tolerance as a radial distance and against the vertical tolerance.

Assumptions and limitations

  • Schedule coordinates are the center of the anchor bolt group at top of foundation. The as-built shots are assumed to be the same point.
  • The specifications give no separate along-track and cross-track limits, so the horizontal deviation is checked radially.
  • This check does not cover clearances. Verify the offset from track centerline at P-117 against the OCS design.
  • Survey measurement uncertainty is not included in the check.
